Ms Amelia Hyatt

Biography

Amelia is an experienced Health Service Researcher. Amelia's work combines a focus on strengthening health systems and cancer control planning from a policy level, to reducing inequity and improving patient health experience of care at a health service level. Amelia has particular interest in the areas of health equity, health literacy and communication, and global cancer prevention and control. At Peter Mac, Amelia works closely with patients, carers, and clinicians to co-develop evidence based interventions to address care gaps.Through these partnerships Amelia has developed numerous health interventions including the SecondEars smartphone app, and has ongoing collaborations with University of Melbourne Law school.

Amelia's work also has an international focus, with ongoing engagement in the South Pacific in strengthening cancer control and coalition-building in the region. Amelia has proven experience in a wide array of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and provides both internal and external research and evaluation consulting services. Amelia has led successful grants and projects as principal investigator, and worked as an associate investigator, research adviser or project manager on more than 16 national, regional and local health service research projects. Amelia is regularly invited to speak at seminars about her work, and to partner with health professionals and consumer advocates to achieve health service and system change, and build research capacity. Amelia was awarded a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Scholarship in 2022. Amelia iscurrently completing her PhD to explore the development of health system strengthening and policy support for nations to achieve cervical cancer elimination.
