About research integrity

Our expert researchers maintain high standards of research conduct and foster a research environment distinguished by intellectual honesty and integrity, scholarship, and scientific rigor

We require all researchers to comply with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (the Code) as well as our Responsible Conduct of Research policy. We have three Research Integrity Advisors (RIAs) throughout the hospital and available to anyone unsure about a research conduct issue. The RIA can discuss any relevant Peter Mac procedures and available options, including how to make a complaint.

Breaches of the Code and Research Misconduct

You should direct concerns and complaints about research we perform, including published materials or specific researchers, to either:

  • The Research Integrity Coordinator, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

  • The Executive Director Cancer Research, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

After we receive your complaint, our Designated Officer will determine whether the complaint relates to a potential breach of the Code. If it does, the matter will proceed to a preliminary assessment, as described in the Guide to managing and investigating potential breaches of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and our Management of Potential Breaches of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research procedure. Following preliminary assessment, the Designated Officer will determine whether to:

  • Refer the complaint to an investigation
  • Resolve without need for investigation
  • Refer to other processes
  • Dismiss it
