Biography

Dr. Jason Li is Head of Bioinformatics Core Facility and Lead of Advanced Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Transformation at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Jason received his PhD from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Melbourne in 2009 in the field of machine learning. He joined the Cancer Research Division of Peter Mac in 2007, and was appointed Senior Core Facility Manager of Bioinformatics in 2017. Jason’s expertise lies in the analysis of large-scale genomics data derived from high-throughput sequencing/microarray experiments using both statistical and contemporary machine learning techniques, and has published highly-cited research papers in the area of DNA copy number analysis. Jason has supervised multiple postgraduate and undergraduate research students and is devoted to training up data scientists from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. He joined the Digital & Healthcare Innovations team in 2022 to lead the establishment and adoption of advanced AI analytics platforms. His current research activities include the application of deep learning in cancer multi-omics datasets, radiology image segmentation, and digital pathology whole-slide image quantification.
