Biography

Ms Jacob is an EMR Data Analyst at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in the Health Services Research Department. She specialises in health informatics with experience in clinical data and standardising diverse health datasets using clinical terminologies and database technologies. She supported the technical implementation of SNOMED CT – AU, ICD10 and the Australian Medicines Terminology in the My Health Record. She is also trained in the use of the HL7 standard (Clinical Data Architecture & FHIR) to enable interoperability between clinical information systems. Ms Jacob designed the architecture and coordinated the implementation of a federated database system for a health data integration project at the Australian Institute for Health Innovation. The key focus was to transform de-identified patient data extracted from a hospital-based electronic health record system into a standardised format as per the common data model created by the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) group.

As a data steward, she advised an ethics committee on the management of sensitive health information for research projects. Additionally, she maintained and developed a custom web-based biobank system used in the research of neurodegenerative diseases. Her current focus is to assess, design and build reporting workflows for data extraction from the electronic medical record system into the REDCap platform. The aim is to establish operational cancer registries for haematology at Peter Mac. She is also working on text mining of genomic data from pathology reports and analysis of existing clinical datasets to define a common data model or minimum data set.
