Wina Kung joined the Peter Mac Community Advisory Committee in 2024. She has been supporting a community cancer support organisation for a long time. Wina is currently Deputy Chair of Chinese Cancer and Chronic Illness Society of Victoria.
Wina was trained as a social worker with extensive experience in aged care and disability services. She has worked in the not-for-profit sector in executive/senior managerial positions in Australia for over 20 years.
She values and respects people with all abilities, commits to inclusion, enjoys collaboration and acknowledges strengths in others. Wina has been actively contributing to local community organisations for many years. For example, she was a board member for South East Volunteers, CrimCheck and Inner East Primary Care Partnership. She was also involved with Eastern Melbourne PHN Community Advisory Committee as a consumer representative.
Wina is passionate about cultural diversity. As a migrant herself and having worked with people from diverse backgrounds for years, she understands major issues facing new migrants and barriers in accessing services. Over the years, she has assisted on numerous occasions to mitigate these barriers to accessing services. For example, she has assisted in proofreading translated materials from a consumer perspective, participating in focus group discussions and providing training on the delivery of culturally appropriate services. Wina has presented several papers about multicultural planning and partnerships at national/international conferences. Wina was also a member of Multicultural Advisory Committees with Knox and Manningham Councils, representing consumers from diverse backgrounds.
