These feelings may also affect your family and social relationships. You may feel overwhelmed by the changes in your home/work life that can occur when dealing with cancer. We offer support to veterans and war widows providing up-to-date information about entitlements and access to services.

Music therapy
Music therapy may help reduce your experiences of pain, breathlessness, sleeplessness or anxiety. Our music therapy service is free. If you would like to access our music therapy service, your specialist or a member of your treating team can organise a referral.

Counselling
Our counsellors and social workers are an important part of your healthcare team. They can help you to:
- Understand and adjust to your illness
- Help you make lifestyle changes and plan your future
- Support your communication with children or grandchildren
- Help maintain relationships with family, carers, and friends
- Manage your feelings of anxiety, grief, and loss
- Help with bereavement
Community resources
Our social workers have access to a wide community network. They can help link you with community services. You may also need increased support to help on your discharge from hospital. We can make referrals to local services which meet your specific needs. These may include:
- Home support services
- Childcare
- Housing
- Support groups
Family meetings
Our social workers can arrange for your health care team to meet your family. They can help with understanding your care plan and supports needed to help this.
Legal and financial support
Our social workers can supply you with financial and legal aid information. This information includes:
- Centrelink
- Cancer Council Legal & Financial Pro Bono Program
- Advance Care Planning
