Cancer Nursing Development Pathway

The Cancer Nursing Development Pathway (CNDP) is an education and support pathway designed specifically for nurses newly transitioning into an acute cancer care setting. CNDP assists nurses in the development of core knowledge and skills that are required for the delivery of safe, evidence-based, clinical cancer care.

About the Cancer Nursing Development Pathway

This pathway offers nurses with an interest in developing skills and knowledge in acute cancer care, but with no prior experience in this area of nursing, the opportunity to apply for a role at Peter Mac. As nursing roles are advertised, we encourage nurses to apply with the knowledge that this pathway is available to assist with the transition to acute cancer care. The pathway runs over a 12-month period, which is generally the time it takes to build foundational oncology nursing knowledge and skills.

Whilst participating in the pathway, nurses will have access to a dedicated Clinical Support Nurse (CSN), alongside existing unit-based resources, with expert knowledge in cancer care. They will support nurses caring for patients throughout their treatment trajectory, from diagnosis, through to treatment, supportive care, survivorship, and palliative care.
