To start a videocall using Telehealth:
- Go to the HealthDirect Video Call page
- You will need to select the clinic to enter. If your appointment is at Parkville, select " Parkville telehealth (All Clinics North Melbourne).” Otherwise choose the right waiting room to enter
- Click the Start a Video Call button. You will go to a setup screen
- Follow the prompts to ensure you allow access to microphone and camera when prompted
- For instance, if you are using Chrome you need to click the “Allow” button to continue. This will appear in the top-left corner of your browser
- Complete your Patient/Client Name fields (the person this call is about):
- First Name
- Last Name
- Phone Number
This will allow your consultant to know who you are in the waiting room.
- Click the Continue button. Enter your name and contact number and select the continue button twice. You are in the online waiting room. This is like you are attending the clinic at Peter Mac but online
- You'll get a message on screen to confirm "that you have been checked in". If you do not get this message within about 15-20 minutes, please call Telehealth on (03) 8559 7578
- You might find that music will be playing. You can change the music choice. Do so by clicking onto 'Choose an alternate playlist'. You can also pause the music if you do not want to listen to any
- You are to remain logged into the online waiting room until your Peter Mac clinician is ready to see you
- Remember, this is like attending the clinic in person. So, there will still be a wait involved. It's quite common to be waiting online for approximately 40 minutes. During this time, you'll be using very little internet data as you wait online
