Education builds and sustains the capability needed to support improvements in health care for patients. Education provides staff with the ability to mobilise knowledge for caring, discovery, learning and decision making, leading to improvements in the quality and safety of patient care.
Our students come from universities and education institutes state-wide, nationally, and internationally. We also support the professional development of health professionals from Australian and international health services.
We have extensive partnerships with major higher education providers in Melbourne and across Victoria. We support approximately 450 undergraduate and postgraduate clinical and research placements annually across our clinical disciplines and in our laboratory and clinical research groups.
We partner with education, healthcare, and research institutes globally. These clinical and research education partnerships and knowledge exchange support our drive for excellence in education.
We have a strategic focus on education that is evidence-driven. We lead, coordinate and harness our educational activity to deliver against our strategic education directions, which are:
-
Excellence in education and learning
-
Patients as partners in education
-
Transforming learning through contemporary approaches
-
Harnessing partnerships
Our education framework supports collaborative, technology-enhanced learning and cancer education for the broader Peter Mac community and our clinical and research partners, aiming to impact the experience and outcomes of all people affected by cancer.
