Our radiotherapy nurses help manage your acute treatment-related side effects and conditions. They do so in consultation with your radiation oncologist and yourself. 

Trained radiotherapy QUIT facilitators can help patients to quit smoking. 

This department helps patients to keep a healthy diet during their treatment. The dietitian can supply education on nutritional strategies. These strategies will help with cancer and the side effects of treatment. They can also supply recommendations about nutritional supplements and tube feeding if needed. 

Our social work staff can support you and your family during treatment. They can supply such support in the form of emotional support and practical help. 

During your cancer treatment, the psychology department will give you information and advice. This information includes psychological conditions and how best to manage them.  

Physiotherapy can optimise your physical function and quality of life. Our on-site physiotherapists can assess and treat a variety of conditions. Such conditions include physical function related to cancer and its treatments.  

Cancer and radiation therapy side-effects can limit a person's work and daily life. Our qualified occupational therapists help you improve your quality of life and productivity. 

Cancer or the effects of your treatments can cause some difficulties. These difficulties can include swallowing, speech, voice, and language issues. Speech pathologists at our Bendigo campus can help with these difficulties. 

Support groups are well-placed to help during your cancer experience. They help by providing a space for you to share your concerns with others who have been where you are. One such group is Living with Cancer provided through the Cancer Council of Victoria.  

Ask your treating team about other available support groups and programs. There may be groups and programs in your area and/or for your specific cancer type.
