Volunteer Services provides a team of highly valued volunteers to support the needs of the Peter Mac Community including patients, their families and loved ones as well as staff.
Our volunteers are integral in working to the mission and values of Peter Mac, supporting Compassion, Excellence, Innovation, and specialist expertise in cancer care, treatment and education.
What our volunteers do
Volunteering with us includes helping patients and clinicians across the centre.
Some tasks volunteers may get to be part of include:
- helping patients navigate the building
- supplying wigs and headwear
- massage
- manicures
- helping administrative tasks associated with running our centre.
There are also opportunities to be part of the Pain and Palliative Care volunteer team. This team helps with direct care.
We also have many hundreds out in the community, corporate and business world. They also give much appreciated and extensive support to the Volunteer Services. This support enables us to deliver such a wide variety of free services and products to our patients.
We rely on our community to help us support patients' wellbeing, through both material aid and gifts for occasions.
Donating items
You can also help by donating common items that we supply to patients who may be admitted to hospital suddenly or who need to stay longer than expected.
