Associate Professor Catherine (Kate) Cherry - Director, Board of Directors

Kate Cherry is an infectious diseases physician at Alfred Health with a particular interest in caring for people living with HIV. She has been a clinician in Victoria’s public hospital system since 1993 and is passionate about ensuring the equitable provision of high quality, evidence‑based care to all in this state.  

Following physician training, Kate completed a PhD (2004) and a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology (2005) at Monash University. Today Kate’s research involvement includes a part time role at the Burnet Institute (where she contributes to projects of local, national and international collaborators), membership of the Ethics Committee of Alfred Health, and honorary academic appointments at both Monash University and the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.  
 
Kate Cherry is also involved in medical education at all levels, and volunteers with MS Australia.
