Research design and statistics

The Department of Health Services Research provides full service methodological and statistical support, from study design and support for grant or funding applications, protocol preparation and ethics applications, data capture and management, statistical analysis, publication and reporting support, and clinical and commercial translation.

The statistical unit of the DHSR has considerable experience in patient-centred outcomes and comparative effectiveness research, clinical trials, adaptive designs, platform and pragmatic trials, Bayesian analysis, machine learning and AI applications, digital health, observational cohort analysis and the generation of real-world evidence for supporting clinical, pharmaceutical, behavioural and practice innovations. We also have expertise in the development of quality measurement and reporting systems, with a specific focus on those designed to capture patient-reported outcome data.
