We understand that healthcare has a big role in shaping a sustainable future and we’re committed to reducing our ecological footprint while still providing the best care for our patients and community. Our strategy aligns with the Victorian government's emissions reduction targets, allowing us to play our part in the broader climate change conversation. Our sustainability performance
Key Initiatives:
- Energy Efficiency: Upgrading Grattan Street and other campuses with LED lighting, reprogramming HVAC systems, and exploring solar installation with VHBA support.
- Waste Management: Implementing reusable surgical gowns and drapes, better clinical waste segregation, rolling out new recycling waste bins, and expanding recycling programs.
- Water Conservation: Installing water-saving fixtures, promoting water conservation practices.
- Sustainable Procurement: Exploring eco-friendly and ethically produced medical supplies and equipment, including reusable gowns to minimise landfill waste.
- Green Building Practices: Adhere to sustainable practices to meet green building standards when designing new facilities and retrofitting existing buildings.
- Education and Engagement: Conducting workshops to raise awareness and encourage active staff participation in sustainability initiatives. Partnering with Cleanaway Daniels, our waste contractor, to conduct customised workshops for departments.
