Prospective student radiation therapy education

We are the largest provider of radiation therapy student clinical placements in Victoria

We invite prospective radiation therapy students to contact us to organise a tour of one of our five radiation therapy campuses at BendigoBox HillMelbourneMoorabbin or Sunshine.

We offer a work experience program at certain campuses for students in Years 11 and 12, undertaking mathematics and physics subjects and interested in a radiation therapy career.

The program offers exposure to the Radiotherapy department as well as Medical Imaging, for a total of five days. This provides an introduction to medical radiations science and an opportunity to gain insight into this profession in the hospital setting.

Spaces for work experience are limited, so please contact us for more details.

Becoming a student

If you are interested in becoming a radiation therapist there are several resources available to help guide your decision including:

Medical radiations open day events

Want to see what we can offer? Every year our radiation therapy department hosts the Career in Medical Radiations open day, organised in conjunction with diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine and physical sciences. Our staff and university providers are available on the day for tours and discussion. Students, parents and teachers are all welcome to attend.

I always wanted to work in the medical field to help people and to find a career to challenge myself daily. Radiation therapy is a career where we are helping people by treating cancer, and we can also challenge ourselves in the many aspects of planning and treatment.

Amy was very pleased to undertake her student placement with us so she could get exposure to and experience  a range of treatment types and techniques. Amy completed her university degree prepared to apply for positions as a qualified radiation therapist.
