Dozens of Peter Mac researchers feature in Stanford University’s worldwide top scientist list
31 October 2024
Thirty-eight Peter Mac researchers have been named in the top two per cent of the world's most-cited scientists across their career based on a recently updated study published by Stanford University.
The recently updated study published by Stanford University also listed 57 Peter Mac researchers in the top two per cent of most-cited scientists in the world for 2023.
The report is based on the snapshot from Scopus – an abstract and indexing database produced by Elsevier.
The top two per cent includes the top 100,000 most-cited scientists as determined by a composite citation score, or “c-score”, focusing on the impact of citations rather than productivity (number of publications). It also incorporates information on co-authorship and author positions.
Peter Mac Acting Executive Director Cancer Research, Professor Karin Thursky, said the volume of Peter Mac researchers on the list demonstrates our global research status.
“Having so many researchers from Peter Mac featured on this list is an impressive accomplishment, placing them at the top tier of their research field,” she said.
“This exceptional outcome reflects Peter Mac’s dedication to research excellence and highlights the global influence of our work.
“I extend my congratulations to all our researchers for this recognition. Their dedication to research not only bolsters our status as a leading cancer research institution, but also significantly impacts the lives of those affected by cancer.”
The ranking method is based on standardised citation metrics developed by a group of Stanford University scientists led by John Ioannidis, who is with Stanford's Departments of Medicine, Health Research and Policy, Biomedical Data Science and Statistics, and the Meta Research Innovation Center.
Congratulations to the following Peter Mac researchers:
