Her role involves working with all our amazing researchers to guide them through the process of commercialising their new concepts or discovery.

Lucy said, “Many of our researchers are working on concepts that could one day be new cancer diagnostics or treatments and my role is to work with them to take that concept from the lab and foster it through a process where it will one day be accessed by patients worldwide.”

“This process can involve filing patents, brokering a licensing deal or identifying partners that have the resources and expertise to bring the concept to market,” she said.

“I see commercialisation as a way of driving real-life patient health outcomes, which inspires and motivates me.

“When a treatment I have worked on reaches a patient, that really is as meaningful as it can get.”

Lucy explained that she works with companies and investors to understand more about what they might need to see on a concept to be interested in working with us.

“We use this information to guide the type of research and development happening at Peter Mac with some researchers specifically designing and conducting their research with this outcome in mind."
