Peter Mac to open to the public for Open House Melbourne
28 June 2024
This year Peter Mac is proud to mark 75 years of serving the Australian and global cancer community.
To celebrate, our Melbourne facilities will open to the public this July as part of the program for Open House Melbourne.
One of Melbourne’s most popular cultural events, Open House allows visitors to explore and experience our most significant spaces, many of which aren’t usually accessible to the public.
Announced last night, Peter Mac’s Open House activities will include expert and self-guided tours of the $1 billion Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre building (pictured below).
Visitors will see first-hand how we treat and diagnose cancer, support people with cancer and their families, and conduct our innovative cancer research.
Peter Mac experts will be on hand, sharing fascinating insights into the past, present and future of cancer care.
The weekend will also be the first chance for visitors to explore our brand-new historical exhibition, which explores the rich history of Peter Mac.
Peter Mac’s in-house art curator will run exclusive tours of the extensive donated art collection that provides comfort and joy to patients and their families every day.
Peter Mac will be open and accessible to everyone. The program has been carefully curated to include family-friendly activities designed to help young people learn more about science, medicine, and the amazing Parkville biomedical precinct.
Peter Mac looks forward to sharing our work with the people of Melbourne – and of course hopefully some visitors from further afield too.
