The breast consists of fatty tissue, glandular tissue, lobules (also known as milk glands), milk ducts, and nipple. The lobules make breast milk in women. This milk goes to the nipple through fine tubes called the milk ducts when breast feeding. Breast duct cells can see abnormal growth, multiply, and enter nearby breast tissue. They can then form into a lump (tumour). Breast cancer is common in women. It also affects a small number of men. Not all breast lumps are cancerous. If you are worrying about your breasts, it is important you visit your GP for a breast cancer exam.
