Dr Chris Chan
Biography
Originally from Perth, Chris completed his undergraduate medical studies at the University of Western Australia, as well as a Master of Public Health, before completing specialist training as a consultant physician in rehabilitation medicine in Newcastle and Melbourne. After a period of specialist practice in rehabilitation medicine, and inspired to help patients facing the emotional and physical challenges of acute and persistent pain, Chris completed further training in pain medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. His experience includes the management of cancer and non-cancer pain, interventional pain procedures, and public and private practice.
As a specialist pain medicine physician, Chris has roles as a consultant in the acute pain service, transitional and persistent pain in outpatient clinics, and participates in multidisciplinary meetings. He is also the Supervisor of Training at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre for pain medicine fellows training under the Faculty of Pain Medicine. Chris is passionate about providing holistic care for patients with cancer pain, with a particular interest in pain education, quality improvement activities, and pain in cancer survivorship.
