Dr Derrick M Wanigaratne
Biography
Dr Derrick Wanigaratne is Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist (ROMP) working at Peter Mac Cancer Centre since 2010. Prior to joining Peter Mac he worked as a Research Scientist/ Consultant at Amcor Research & Technology Centre in Melbourne.
Derrick is a Senior Medical Physicist and the Physics Site lead at Peter Mac Moorabbin Campus. He has been directly involved in commissioning as well as supervising State of the art Radiation delivery and Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) systems at Peter Mac Moorabbin Campus. In addition, he played a significant role in commissioning and clinical implementation of Intraoperative Breast Radiotherapy (IORT) using Xoft system. Some of his current clinical interests include, Motion management of moving tumours, Surface guidance, Linac based Neuro SRS delivery and latency testing in radiation beam delivery systems.
