Biography

Dr Jessica Li is a Development Scientist in the Centre of Excellence in Cellular Immunotherapy at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. After completing a BSc (Hons) and PhD at the University of Melbourne, Jessica undertook postdoctoral training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where her research focused on harnessing the immune system to develop novel immunotherapeutic treatments in collaboration with biotech industry partners.

Following her passion to develop new immunotherapeutic strategies into tangible products for patients, Jessica joined a CDMO where she gained experience in commercial and clinical GMP manufacturing of cell-based therapies. In her role as Development Scientist, Jessica performs manufacturing development for GMP-ready clinical production of novel cell and gene therapy products in the Centre of Excellence in Cellular Immunotherapy’s pipeline, such as CAR-T cell therapy for solid and blood cancers. This encompasses process development, optimisation and scale-up of cell manufacturing protocols, assay development, and preclinical feasibility testing in preparation for early phase clinical trials.
