Dr Joseph Paiva

Radiologist

Biography

Dr Joseph Paiva is a Specialist Radiologist in the Department of Cancer Imaging at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre since 2018. He graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School with honours in 2005 and completed radiology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2013, with fellowships in breast imaging (at Breastscreen Victoria) and musculoskeletal imaging. He is also appointed as a consultant radiologist at Western Health Melbourne and is a visiting radiologist to the Royal Darwin Hospital, which he sees as an important means of giving back to his regional hometown Darwin, where he grew up.

He has a particular interest in medical and radiology education and is heavily involved in registrar teaching and training. He is a previous director of registrar training at Western Health Melbourne, an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne Department of Radiology, a college viva examiner for the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiologists and has completed a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Teaching at the University of Melbourne. He is an active member of the breast tumour stream and actively involved in teaching radiology registrars and fellows.
