Biography

In 2015, Dr Luis Lara Gonzalez became a masters student at Peter Mac and began conducting research on tumour growth and drug modelling in the laboratory of Professor Anthony Papenfuss. He then commenced his PhD in 2016 with by Dr David Good, where he created stochastic models to measure the clonal selection of tumour. In 2019, he transitioned to a postdoctoral researcher role in translational bioinformatics in Professor Sherene Loi’s laboratory, where he currently conducts analyses of breast cancer (immune)-genomic data from leading local and global clinical trials. Luis continues to focus on bioinformatics tools to better understand tumour evolution. His objective is to evaluate the extent to which mutation and proliferation rates contribute to tumour heterogeneity and drug resistance, and consequently estimate the risk for patients at the time of diagnosis.
