Dr (PhD) Shaza Abo

Biography

Dr Shaza Abo is the Physiotherapy Clinical Lead at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and a Postdoctoral Clinical Research Fellow in the cardiorespiratory physiotherapy research team at University of Melbourne. Her PhD exploring exercise in adults treated with bone marrow transplantation was conferred in 2022. Dr Abo has over 10-years experience as a clinical physiotherapist, specialising in haematology, bone marrow transplantation, oncology, palliative care and intensive care in Melbourne, Australia and in London, UK. Her research interests include, but are not limited to, improving health-related quality of life and physical activity levels in those diagnosed with cancer and in people admitted to intensive care. Dr Abo currently supervises one PhD candidate and provides teaching support within physiotherapy, having previous work experience as a senior lecturer in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy at St Mary's University in London.
