Dr Sheng Oon
Biography
Dr. Sheng Oon is a Consultant Radiologist and the current joint Genitourinary Imaging modality lead at Peter Mac. He has a particular interest in GU Imaging, but has additional subspecialty fellowship specialisations in Gynae-oncologic, Abdominal, Breast and Advanced Oncologic Radiology.
Dr. Oon graduated from Trinity College Dublin and entered an initial pathway in Urological Surgery, obtaining an intercollegiate Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2009. He was awarded Doctorate of Medicine by thesis at the University College Dublin Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research and was member of the Irish Prostate Cancer Research Consortium and Irish Prostate Cancer Biomarker Discovery Programme. He later transferred into the specialty of Radiology and obtained Fellowships to the Faculty of Radiology, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiologists. He was clinical tutor and demonstrator in Anatomy as well as honorary lecturer to the School of Medicine, University College Dublin and is current Clinical Lecturer to the University of Melbourne with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Department of Oncology.
Dr Oon has won several research and presentation awards and obtained multiple competitive grants for his research in translational medicine and prostate cancer. He is an Associate Investigator in the Prostate Theranostics and Imaging Centre of Excellence (ProsTIC) programme, Investigator in the COMPyl trial and MRI specialist contributor to the proPSMA trial.
Dr. Oon remains affiliated with the Royal Women’s Hospital and Northwestern Breastscreen.
