Biography

Dr Huang is a Cancer Immunologist in Assoc. Prof Paul Beavis’ laboratory with a specific research interest in understanding the immune-spatial tumour microenvironment and improving immune trafficking in solid tumours.

He studied Biomedical Engineering at the National Tsing Hua University and focused on the research of drug delivery and immune therapy in prostate cancer. He is experienced in the pharmaceutical industry before starting his PhD in the development of biosimilar antibodies in pre-clinical models and for clinical trials. He completed his PhD in the lab of Prof Alex Boussioutas investigating the spatial immune context of human gastric cancer, using multiplex immunohistochemistry and bioinformatics analyses to determine their relevance to clinical outcomes.

He joined the Beavis lab in 2022, focussing his research on the development of the next generation of CAR T-cells using CRISPR/Cas9 HDR technology and enhancing their engagement with host immune cells. His current interest focuses on the identification of genes associated with the spatial distribution of T-cells within solid tumours and the design of novel nanobodies to be secreted by CAR T-cells locally in the tumour.
