Biography

Richard Young is a Senior Research Officer who has worked in the Ben Solomon Lab (Molecular Therapeutics and Biomarkers Lab) for over 15 years. He has over 25 years’ experience working in medical research; across basic, translational and clinical disciplines and has worked in both University and Medical Research Institute settings.

Richard has authorship on over 50 peer reviewed journal articles and is recognised for his expertise in tissue based assays such as immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in-situ hybridisation; together with histology, microscopy and image analysis. His current research interests include characterising the role and prognostic significance of specific immune cell types in HPV driven oropharyngeal cancer and exploring mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma; both with the aim of discovering new tissue biomarkers that can be used to stratify patients for optimal personalised treatments.
