Dr Avraham Travers
Biography
Dr Travers is a medical oncologist in the Lower Gastrointestinal stream at Peter Mac. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011 and completed medical oncology training in Victoria and NSW. Dr Travers has also undertaken fellowships in translational breast cancer research and Phase I clinical trials. He has ongoing clinical interests in lower GI and breast cancers as well as early phase trials.
Dr Travers is currently completing a laboratory based PhD in the Parish lab at Peter Mac. Supported by a NHMRC post graduate scholarship, his research focuses on the role of CD8 T cell peripheral tolerance in colorectal cancer and how this may restrict the benefit of immunotherapy in this setting. He also seeks to define how to breach CD8 T cell peripheral tolerance, potentially leading to new immunotherapy treatments to better treat colorectal and other malignancies.
