Professor Riccardo Dolcetti
Biography
Professor Riccardo Dolcetti is a clinician scientist with more than 20 years research experience in cancer biology and immunology. He has been working as Director of the Cancer Bio-Immunotherapy Division at the CRO-National Cancer Institute of Aviano, Italy until 2015 when he took the position of Chair in Cancer Medicine, Frazer Institute, Univ. of Queensland, where he coordinated the Cancer Immunotherapy Program, developed new cancer vaccines and improved combination immunotherapies.
In 2020, he took the role of Head, Clinical and Translational Immunotherapy as joint appointment at the Sir Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Univ. of Melbourne (DMI/PDI) and Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC). Current research activities are focused on the development and clinical application of new strategies of immunotherapy for the prevention and treatment of human tumors, particularly cancer vaccines and adoptive immunotherapy. In addition to his activities as lab head, his role is to facilitate collaborations in the Parkville precinct with the goal to support the rapid translation and clinical application of new discoveries for the benefit of cancer patients. This activity extends across all members of the VCCC alliance, their affiliated health services and to clinical and translational research across a broad variety of tumour streams (breast, melanoma, colorectal and primary and metastatic brain tumours) including children’s and adolescent cancers.
He is an active member of the VCCC Alliance Clinical Trialist Development Hub. He has more than 260 publications in peer-reviewed international journals with more than 10,000 citations. He had the privilege to be the President of the Italian Society for Cancer Research in 2012-13.
