How your donation helps
Your donation will make a difference to the lives of people living with cancer
As Australia's only public hospital solely dedicated to overcoming cancer, we have the privilege to be closely involved with all our patients, their families and carers. At Peter Mac we get to see the real difference cancer research has on the lives of people living with cancer.
Hear from the people
Meet Zach
"When you get told that there's no set treatment or cure for your cancer because there are not enough funds available to do research on your particular type of cancer, it's an eye opener."
When Zach was diagnosed with a rare type of head and neck cancer he was told that there was no standard pathway through treatment for him. Unfortunately, his cancer is so rare that research simply hasn't found a proven way to treat it yet.
At Peter Mac, there are researchers determined to discover cures for all cancers, including the very rare ones. Chemotherapy has extended Zach's life but he is far from out of the woods with his diagnosis and he remains hopeful that a cure will be found.
Donating could mean lorem ipsum amet si dolor. test
Meet Abbey
"It's just very reassuring to know that people, who might not even be going through cancer themselves or know people going through it, are willing to donate and make a difference."
At just 18, Abbey, a vibrant, fit young woman was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
But before she could even process that news, Abbey would face another challenge. One of the side effects of her treatment would be the possibility that she could lose her fertility.
A cancer diagnosis is never just about surviving, but how cancer could impact a life for years to come – especially for someone so young. Only with more research, will we be able to reduce the impact cancer has on people like Abbey.
That’s why your support is so critical.

Please help Peter Mac researchers discover the next breakthrough in cancer research
Our researchers rely on generous donations just like yours, to continue their search for more cancer cures and better treatments.
Professor Alexander Heriot
"When you get told that there's no set treatment or cure for your cancer because there are not enough funds available to do research on your particular type of cancer, it's an eye opener."
As Peter Mac's Clinical Director of Cancer Surgery, Professor Alexander Heriot and his team are taking the lead in exciting research around progressing and refining personalised treatments to treat every individual's cancer.
By doing this, they can discover which treatments will work best for an individual patient before they begin their treatment plan. Your support will help detailed and important research like this continue.

Peter Mac has a wellbeing approach to care. We base this on a fundamental belief that the best cancer care treats the person and the disease. The Wellbeing Centre is a sanctuary for patients, their families and carers. It is a gathering place that is open, accepting and welcoming for all.
Cancer can be hard to deal with and we know that getting treatment is only part of it. You might have other challenges and need help with them. We offer many kinds of help for you, your loved ones, and your carers. Each resource can help you deal with how cancer affects your body, emotions and money.
The Victorian Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Service is a team of health and other professionals who specialise in the care of young people aged 15 to 25. We work with you and your healthcare team to support you at all stages of the cancer journey, anywhere in Victoria.
You are a carer if you’re taking care of someone with cancer. You might be a family member, friend or neighbour. Our wonderful volunteer service is here to help to make things a little easier for you and the person you’re caring for. They offer a range of support, resources, and items to help you.
The Psychosocial Oncology Program is a multidisciplinary team. This includes clinical psychologists, social workers, PCLNs, and psychiatrists/psychiatric registrars. They assess patients at risk of mental health problems. They will also assess and treat those with current mental health problems.
